Shelley Himmelstein

I paint to create a space "to be," a space to reflect and explore the visual properties of images that lie outside of specific narrative. My paintings are an amalgam of impressions, often gathered from travels, that focus on underlying structure and qualities that are both particular to the moment and may resonate universally. They are responsive to my memory and intuition, and also to independent character of paint, when working with music, urbanscape and landscape. February 2021
