Sidnei Sampaio is a Brazilian visual artist, born in São Paulo and based in São Bernardo do Campo, SP. Although his passion for doodling began in childhood, Sidnei only ventured into art professionally after the age of 50, becoming a self-taught visual artist with over 10 years of practice. He describes himself as a restless creator, with multiple facets that include drawing, painting, cutting, and sanding wood. His journey involves overcoming "limiting beliefs," which injects purpose and resilience into his work.
Sidnei Sampaio's signature work is the creation of mandalas, a practice that began with research into the origins and meaning of these circles, which symbolize healing, spirituality, integration, and harmony. As a "naturally anxious person," the artist found in mandalas a path to self-knowledge and emotional balance, elements he seeks to convey to the viewer. His original work is characterized by symbolic elements and vibrant colors, executed primarily in acrylic paint on canvas. The artistic process is strongly anchored in Pointillism, an impressionist technique in which figures are composed of small dots that, together, form the image, giving it shadows, colors, and depth.
