Silvija Kicivoj, born in Zagreb in 1989, lives and works in Düsseldorf since 2008.
Her artistic practice developed from an early need to express thoughts and feelings in images—initially through drawing, painting, and photography, and today primarily in the form of textiles and embroidery. What began as a quiet retreat has become a central part of her identity over the years.
Silvija’s works emerge from the tension between the inner and outer worlds. She explores interpersonal relationships, emotional responses, and the impact of her surroundings. Her work revolves around themes such as self-perception, change, balance, and the need to imbue everyday experiences with deeper meaning.
Through clear forms, delicate lines, and a conscious choice of materials, she translates thoughts and feelings into a tangible, visual language. Structure, surface, and atmosphere play just as important a role as content. The works do not invite quick interpretation—they appear quiet and understated, revealing their depth in dialogue with the viewer.
