Arthur Simon is an actor and abstract artist working in oil paint, stone and performance.
Arthur was born in Louisiana, graduated from Oberlin College, studied comedy improvisation in Chicago and cofounded Austin’s ColdTowne Theater in 2006. He has worked as training specialist for Dell Medical School at the University of Texas and founded robotic theater troupe Bot Party, staging performances at Fusebox Festival, Maker Faire and SXSW Interactive. Film and TV credits include Big Momma’s House 2, Parkland and most recently 1923.
Dynamic anthropomorphic shapes dominate Arthur’s visual art, which has ranged from abstract oils on canvas to minimalist rock figurines. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, comparative mythology, Italian Futurism, Chilean Cubism, Cajun Fauvism, the San Francisco School of Abstract Expressionism and Lower Pecos Rock Art, Arthur has exhibited at various galleries, coffee shops, art markets and festivals around the South.
