For me, art is not merely an act of observation, but a vital response to the noise of modern life. Working primarily with oil paint and adding a textured touch using palette knives, I sculpt thick, tactile layers onto the canvas, capturing the elusive threshold where intense kinetic energy meets absolute calm. My work explores a singular, profound theme: finding stillness in a moving world. This duality is deeply rooted in my lifelong relationship with the ocean.
The textured, atmospheric cityscapes and powerful equine subjects are born from this same fluid energy—freezing fleeting moments of motion into enduring spaces of reflection. Every canvas is an invitation to slow down and connect with the fluid energy of our planet.
My true education as a painter comes from a lifetime of intense, disciplined observation. Rather than following a traditional academic path, I have committed decades to the self-directed mastery of oil painting, studying the world around me with the precise eye of an observer of life. My work is deeply rooted in a close, instinctive connection to the discipline of nature and, most of all, the vast power of the oceans. As a waterman—a surfer, diver, and swimmer—my relationship with the sea is lived firsthand. Through years of relentless studio practice, I have focused on mastering the translation of light, movement, and fluid atmosphere onto canvas. By using expressive palette knife techniques and rich textures, I work to capture those fleeting moments where light transforms a landscape, creating a timeless space for quiet contemplation.
