Sofia Zakharchuk

I was born in Vladivostok, the starting point of the Trans-Siberian Railway, and now I live in Italy.

Trained as a psychologist, I explore the subtle thresholds between outer reality and the inner world, using photography to give visible form to what usually remains hidden.

My work investigates the dualities of existence: matter and spirit, consciousness and the unconscious, past and present, seeking traces of the silent dialogue between these dimensions.

I am also fascinated by the collective unconscious of different cultures and the symbols through which it emerges, revealing universal connections beyond geography.

Through my images, I invite viewers to pause, look beneath the surface, and perceive the quiet depth present in every place and every person.

I received my first camera at the age of five, and since then photography has become an inseparable part of my life.

I studied the fundamentals of photography, technique, and composition through courses and workshops led by practicing photographers, but I have always believed that the most important thing in photography is one’s own vision and constant practice.
