Sonia Esplugas

Sonia is a contemporary visual artist based in Barcelona. She is strongly influenced by the effervescent Buenos Aires, where she lived and started creating art. Drawing is her main language, though she also relies on photography, painting, installation or even performance to express herself. Her work is inspired by organic forms of nature -including human beings- and quantum physics approach of the Universe. She is fascinated for the capacity of art to expand our experience and perception of the world. All this results in spontaneous, diverse, fresh and above all honest pieces of art.
‘My artwork is always a game, an experiment and a mirror that helps me see beyond the surface to understand, transform and celebrate my experience in life’, she states.
