Son Young-deuk is a Daegu-based media artist and independent animation
director working across VR installation, interactive media, media façade,
augmented reality, and digital painting. Since 1996, he has used art as
a site of social and historical inquiry — investigating isolation, memory,
labor, and the condition of the individual within modern urban life.
Central to his practice is the character "Zipperman," a symbolic figure
navigating a world saturated with signs and suppression. His work
combines vivid, confrontational color with psychological depth, drawing
viewers into scenes of quiet tension rendered in flat digital form.
He currently serves as Professor at the Department of Webtoon & Animation,
Keimyung Culture University, Daegu, South Korea.
2002 MFA, Western Painting — Yeungnam University Graduate School
1995 BFA, Western Painting — Yeungnam University College of Fine Arts
