Sophie Inard

Sophie Inard is a Paris-based French artist who transforms iconic objects from sport, luxury, and popular culture into textile sculptures.

By covering boxing gloves, footballs, helmets, and other symbolic objects in hand-crocheted material, she creates a tension between power and fragility, performance and intimacy.

Through this slow and meticulous process, objects associated with competition, protection, and desire are stripped of their original function and transformed into tactile, almost ghost-like presences.

Her work explores how objects carry memory, projection, and identity, while questioning contemporary representations of strength and power.

Her work has been exhibited in France and internationally, notably at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio as part of the exhibition Sport & Spectator (2025), and at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City (June–December 2026). She has also collaborated with brands including Harley-Davidson Paris and Merci Paris.
