Sorin Mocanu

Sorin Mocanu’s practice investigates the foundational architecture of reality.

Rather than depicting external phenomena, his work isolates structural conditions — origin, internal tension, and the emergence of consciousness within a field. Each painting operates as a constructed system in which layered surfaces function as informational strata, simultaneously accumulating and destabilizing order.

What may appear as figure is not symbolic representation, but structural density: a concentration of force within a continuous field. A recurring vertical axis introduces a decisive tension between flux and containment, dissolution and coherence. It operates less as a compositional device than as a structural necessity.

Mocanu approaches painting as an investigative process. His works examine how perception stabilizes instability — and how awareness emerges from disturbance. The canvas becomes a site where structure is tested, rather than illustrated.

Independent artistic formation, shaped through sustained self-directed practice, selective mentorship, and long-term research into the structural instability of image-making.
