Stefano Piccioli, Architect and painter, paints images of the Italian territory with the attention of a geographer, also interested in transformations and all those more or less small signs (often negative ones) that daily life imprints on the landscape. Emotions do not always derive from large overall images, but also from small details or partial visions that painting indelibly fixes in memory.
Stefano Piccioli uses the very slow means of oil painting to reproduce the emotions that the landscape contains and transmits.
I studied art and painting since my adolescence in the city of Pisa where I lived as a boy; later I studied art and architecture at the University of Florence, and I practiced as an architect in Rimini, the city where I have lived for fifty years.
My work as an architect (of which I show some images on my Instagram page) has always been intertwined with my painting. Here in Saatchi Art I present some of my paintings from the last twenty-five years: now my work as an architect is finished but my activity as a painter is very active. For over fifteen years I have also been exploring the world of abstract painting, which I love very much: however, the exploration of the feelings that derive from the landscape is the pictorial activity that still moves me.
