Painting is for me a necessity. I have an urge to express in a pictorial way things I see or feel and that touches me or transmits beauty.
I like to start each painting as though it was something new, guided by my intuition, often led at first by colours, launch the work in a spontaneous way, depending on the place and moment I'm in.
I do hope my work can show a glimpse of the beauty I see in my everyday life, even with it's nostalgic moments at times.
My main inspiration is everyday day life, my family and the landscapes I have around where I live and work . It can also be a scene in the street, a picture I saw or took, an emotion I lived.
I'm also fascinated by portraits and have been lucky to have had many commissions, and still do.
Trying to catch something of the soul of the model is what I find so interesting and unique.
The painters that inspire me most are the Nabis, especially Vuillard and Bonnard.
I also admire Fauve painters and then I like Basquiat for his strong graphic lines, Helene Schjerfbeck for the way she simplifies volumes, Chagall for expressing what he feels and believes, Matisse for his motives and freedom..and so many others..
