Stephanie Yu

Stephanie Yu (b. 2002) is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting and photography. Born in Shanghai and raised across cultures, she has lived in Vancouver, Köln, and Barcelona, and is currently based in New York City. Her work is shaped by travel, cross-cultural experiences, music, and art, exploring how emotion moves across places and cultures.

Yu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication with a minor in International and Global Studies from Rutgers University. She has also completed master’s-level studies in Fashion Trend Investigation at IED Barcelona.

Working with color as an emotional palette, Yu’s practice is influenced by Fauvism and intuitive expression. Through expressive painting and film photography, her work captures atmosphere rather than accuracy, preserving moments of intimacy, nostalgia, and presence.
