Stephan Joachim

Stephan Joachim works as a director, stage and costume designer for theatre.
He started photographing when he was aged 6.
While working at the theatres he started to photograph more and more productions of the opera and the ballet.
Meanwhile he is officially regarded as a specialist of this genre.

Since several years his work begun to become more artistic and he started this new era of style:
His works now are influenced by nude fine art elements. And he developed his personal style using his photographs, putting them on materials like canvas or metal plates and combining them with paint, gold leaves, shellac and more.
That is why many of the works are unique though they are photographs.
His pure art photographs also are available as editions with different quantities.

Mein Leben begann in den Sechzigern in Deutschland, als Sohn meiner Mutter, Dr. Jenny Schmidt-Kuhn, einer Ärztin, und meines Vaters, Gottfried Johannes Schmidt, eines Pfarrers und Seelsorgers.
Meine Großeltern waren, Ärzte, Pfarrer, künstlerisch Begabte.
Meine Vorfahren waren Handwerker, Bauern.

Ich fotografiere seit meinem sechsten Lebensjahr.
