I'm an award-winning public speaker and artist. Painting is another form of communication that allows me to explore courage and creativity. To paint is to think with a brush in your hands. It's a creative space to be playful and take risks and discover happy accidents.
I love playing with vibrant colours, energetic mark-making, dripping and pouring paint, combining mixed media such as collage, acrylics, posca pens, ink, oil pigment sticks and spray paint to express messages and emotions. In recent years, I use brushes, sticks, squeegees, hands, sponges, water sprays, kitchen paper and palette knives to create depth and interest in the background layers.
I started to paint in 2002 and have never looked back. My first exhibition was in 2005 in Switzerland. Then the “Jazz Colors” series sparked interest during the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2010-11 and was featured in two galleries: Metis & En Beauregard.
Since then, my work has appeared throughout Switzerland, France, the USA & Belgium, as well as radio, TV, magazines and journals and is now collected worldwide including the Igor Stravinsky Foundation in Geneva and Swatch.
In 2012, Seth Godin’s “Purple Cow” inspired me to explore art’s unifying abilities through social media and word of mouth. “The 100 Faces Project” was born, and the result was 100 commissioned portraits. The Cité du Temps in Geneva displayed the series of 100 acrylic portraits as an interactive mosaic. Guests were invited to create a story by linking the portraits with coloured strings. These strings indicated relationships such as family, friends, and colleagues.
Whilst based in Miami (2016-2018) I found myself entering a new era and letting go of the call of the vibrant colours of the Floridian coast and the urban vibes of Street Art on Wynwood Walls.
My smallest paintings ever made a mark in New York City in 2017. Miniature paintings created on the back of used NYC transit cards sold out at a New York Art Show hosted by NYAA.
From the smallest painting to the most controversial painting, the two years of painting in Miami were definitely about stepping out of my comfort zone. (t)here Media Group selected me for "1 Day of Art Miami", where I painted her most controversial painting ever, inspired by the theme of “Fake News” in a 24-hour challenge. The artwork was published in the 18th Edition of International Art Magazine ‘(t)here’, distributed at Art Basel Miami.
During the Miami years (2016-2018), I started playing with art as a communication platform to build awareness about sustainability. “This is not what it seems” is a sketchbook about food myths that now belongs to a permanent collection at the Brooklyn Art Library.
In 2018, I returned to Switzerland where the theme of “courage and comfort zones” emerged through visual metaphors. Skateboarders, divers plunging into the unknown, and abstract ski lift or mountains symbolise conquering seemingly impossible challenges through perseverance and courage.
