I create one of a kind handcrafted macrame wall hangings. I also paint with light digitally. I love photography but am not as proficient in it as I'd like.
I have shown my work at the Toledo Artists Gallery, Toledo Museum of Art Community Gallery with the Toledo Artists Club; Spectrum Friends of Fine Art; Artomatic 419; Whitehouse Library, Sanger Branch of the Toledo Lucas Public Library, and Bowling Green State University Summer Art Exhibitions, and frequently participate in the Toledo and Bowling Green Art Walks.
When I write screenplays and books, I often take a break from making art.
The daughter of a painter and creative arts/ Spanish teacher, Melanie studied ceramics with Julie Beutler supplemented with workshops with potters such as Steve Roberts and Ann Tubbs. She studied design with the late Tom Davenport at Bowling Green State University, and went on to learn Paintshop Pro and Photoshop. Although she is by no means a professional photographer, she increasingly enjoys exploring natural landscapes and cityscapes. She sewed extensively and learned macrame in high school and college. After many years, she returned to her love of fiber art and found herself led to her own macrame techniques to create her wearable art wraps, shawls, overtops (ponchos), and vests, as well as the occasional brooch and wall hanging.
