For over 30 years, I’ve enjoyed working in art and photography. I earned a BS degree in design from the University of Cincinnati and studied with Ansel Adams, George Tice and other masters. The work of these classic photographers infuses my images in creating compelling photographs that exhibit similar qualities of exceptional craftsmanship and artistry.
My work is further enhanced by the years of running my NY photography studio serving both national and international clients - shooting everything from 35mm to 8x10 sheet film and digital.
My photographs have been used for many advertising and editorial projects, one of the most notable being the cover image for the book and movie, “Snow Falling on Cedars” by David Guterson. The work included here are images from my travels to Western US, South America, and Fire island, NY.
Today I photograph both locally and around the world with my wife Wendy, capturing the nature and landscape that surrounds us. A friend once said to me how he felt that photographs by Adams, Weston, Steichen, Steiglitz, Salgado and others made reality look better than it really was. I strive to do the same in creating images that instill real emotion in the viewer.
