Artist Bio:
Hawra Harianawala is a Peshawar native, trained at the National college of Arts, Lahore as a visual artist. She started her career in Toronto as an active member of the South Asian Visual Art Collective (SAVAC) and participated in various group and solo shows, including one at the Roy Thompson Hall. She worked in Karachi as a curator and art journalist: Her art reviews have been published in several magazines such as Newsline, Nukta, and OUP Pakistan. Since moving to Houston she runs her visual arts practice called Studio H.
My art practice has evolved as a space for me to be free, I paint whatever inspires me. My curiosity is my inspiration, giving me an affinity with the world surrounding me and the freedom to explore what exists within. It can be a bouquet of flowers, a pigeon perched on a ledge, the sunrise or an abstraction. I create my large sized acrylic paintings from a sense of lightness and joyful celebration of life.
