A. C. Earle began working in photography in 1976 at the age of 10 years old. In the intervening nearly 40 years, he has gone from processing film and making contact prints in his childhood bedroom closet to working in full wet darkrooms until 2007 when he began a transition to full digital capture and processing.
With advent of archival, pigment based digital printing that uses multiple gray shades in an ink set, the quality of prints began to rival, and sometimes exceed, silver-gelatin prints.
A. C. Earle has worked throughout Asia and the United States. Although his subject matter can range from nudes to abandoned industrial sites, his work is often associated with explorations of impermanence, whether that impermanence is the momentary capture of the physical beauty of a body or an image of a naturally degrading structure.
In mid-2015, Mr. Earle began working primarily with manipulating digital images to create the feel of antique images, thus inviting people to view themselves and their times through the eyes of those in the future.
