Susan Bedford

Originally from Derbyshire, England and now living in Scotland, I take my inspiration from nature, my travels and the diverse scapes of Aberdeenshire. I particularly love water, skies, reflections and rust. I create a range of tactile artworks suitable for a variety of settings. I am a prolific photographer, providing myself with a constant source of images to respond to in my artwork. My latest collections are a series of circular textile artworks inspired by my photographs of beautiful Aberdeenshire skies and a set of mixed media canvas boards from rusty boats hulls.

I studied at Derby University and gained a BA Honours Degree in Printed Textile Design then went on to train as a teacher (PGCE). Whilst teaching I completed my Masters Degree in Education and have worked as a teacher since 2004 whilst continuing my practice as a mixed media textile artist.
