Svieta Butsan

Svieta Butsan is a contemporary visual artist from Ukraine, currently living and working in Warsaw, Poland. Born in Chernihiv in 1997, she graduated with honors from the Painting Department at the Faculty of Arts of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin in 2019.

Her practice includes painting, drawing, artist books, and performance. She works between abstraction and figuration, often moving beyond a fixed style in order to explore memory, dreams, inner images, states of suspension, and moments of emptiness. Her works are based on rhythm, color, intuition, and fragmented visual structures.

In her current series “Mosaic,” Butsan creates paintings composed of many smaller images placed within a larger image. These works explore the tension between order and intuition, fragment and whole, inner experience and visual form.
