Sylvia Barrero’s work emerges at the intersection of multiple timelines — moments of her life intertwining to create a dialogue between her many identities. Her paintings are a visual manifestation of human nature, where every version of herself coexists and evolves through color, emotion, and symbolism.
Her artistic journey is an act of integration: a process of embracing all the fragments she once separated — the vulnerable, the visionary, the rebel, the dreamer. Through her work, Sylvia invites us to see ourselves as whole beings, to look at our own reflections with compassion and to recognize the divine creation we embody.
Each painting becomes a portal to self-discovery — a mirror where we meet hidden versions of our own psyche and remember that life itself is a living work of art.
In 2008, Sylvia Barrero earned her degree in Industrial Design with a minor in Textile Design, a foundation that shaped her sensitivity toward composition, materiality, and color. Over time, she expanded her practice beyond design, exploring the intersection of art, cultural management, and digital technology.
Her experience developing creative platforms and curating cultural projects allowed her to bridge the gap between traditional art and emerging digital ecosystems. During this process, she often felt the magnitude of her vision — “I was afraid this dream was bigger than me, that I wouldn’t have enough life or strength to create what my heart had shown me.”
Eventually, she returned fully to her artistic path, transforming that fear into creative fuel and evolving her painting into a vibrant, expressive language that reflects her multidisciplinary vision and her lifelong commitment to expanding what art can be.
Her work has been exhibited in Bogotá, Miami and London. She has painted live in different cities of Colombia and her paintings fill with color dozens of homes in different countries
