Tal Lahat Rappel

I am an Israeli artist based in Nes Ziona, working primarily in textile: yarn, threads, embroidery, knitting and found objects. Alongside textile, my practice includes drawing, printmaking, watercolor, oil on canvas and mixed media. Over the years, I have developed a distinctively expressive and tactile style that explores the profound cycles of life.
By deconstructing images into abstraction, while retaining subtle figurative hints, I delve into the journey of existence from formation to conclusion, and the resonance of what remains. In my textile work, threads, weaves and knots mirror the biological themes of growth, cellular division and reproduction that also appear in my paintings. My work seeks to capture the inherent mystery, chaos and passion of creation. This duality is expressed through striking contrasts: stormy brushstrokes juxtaposed with delicate yarns, and vibrant materiality that spans both small and large-scale works.
