About Tamara Bettencourt

Tamara's an emerging Impressionistic Seascape artist residing in California. Her style of painting teeters between Impressionistic and abstract. Various pieces in her portfolio are pure abstract.
She considers herself self taught, without formal education, just armed with 15 years of self discipline and a natural talent, for mixing beautiful color palettes and an eye for the beauty of nature. Her aim is to intrigue and move her audience with the personality of each piece. Her process is one that never is planned or mapped out from photos, but instinctual and the goal is to always create beauty. She balks at rules and loves the free form style that is portrayed
in her artwork.
As a young girl she aspired to be a makeup artist, instead received her license for Cosmetology, 6 years later decided to put her artistic dreams on hold to start a family.
Tamara's artwork specializes in dramatic, colorful, moody, seascapes.
She draws inspiration for her paintings from the California Coast and and fantasy places in her imagination.
Tamara's artwork is sometimes highly textural, enhancing her signature waves with mixed media. Her color palettes vary with her mood or are inspired by colors of nature.
Her acrylic art pieces mimic that of oils, with layers of color to deepen and enhance each piece. Her skies are setting suns and evening skies taking you to oceans from her mind.

Education

I haven't received any formal training, considered self taught,

With each painting I discover and uncover the mystery of the art of painting, and learn something from each piece created.

The Special Merit awards are being selected from the Special Recognition art from the 2 media categories. We have always stated that we thought that there were many entries in this category that could easily be considered for the top tier and this is our way to recognize these artists, along with their outstanding art.
