Tam Chianta grew up in South Africa and Mauritius. Her imagination was nurtured from a young age by the many artists in her family and she would often help her mother paint ostrich eggs for her stall in the Cape Town Waterfront. She emigrated to the United Kingdom as a teenager and went on to obtain a BA degree in Fine Art and Art History from Goldsmiths.
Tam lives and works in London and her art has appeared in galleries across the capital.
“Through abstract art I have found a means to explore and give form to my inner world, allowing it to unfold through colour and shape. I am moved by the transience of nature - the changing seasons and shifting moods of the sky. I am captivated by reflections and patterns on the surface of water - everything in a constant state of flux. Although the temporary nature of human existence can be unsettling, impermanence is also the source of life’s great beauty and wonder.”
