My name is Tamás Todor, I am a 33 year old painter from Romania. I studied at the University of Arts in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Currently I live and work in Budapest.
My style of painting is somewhere between expressionism and surrealism, and my themes combine the atmosphere of my personal memories from the post-communist suburban landscapes of my childhood in Romania with contemporary social issues in a grotesque and ironic tone. I reflect on the consequences of consumer society and its impact on nature, wildlife and our existence. My work has been most influenced by the painting of Francisco Goya and I feel close to spanish painting in general. I typically work with oil on canvas, and wood panels of various sizes.
I also make drawings with charcoal or ink on paper.
