Tatiana Johnson creates lens-based textile works that inhabit the space between photography and sculpture. Working with sublimation transfer, layered fabric, and hand-stitching, she composes quiet alchemical landscapes—abstract maps of memory, emotion, and perception. Each piece suspends a photographic trace across translucent planes, inviting the viewer into soft thresholds of light, texture, and time.
Her practice explores what resists capture—fragile impressions of presence and atmosphere. Sublimation-printed images, stitched and stretched by hand, become soft image carriers: sculptural surfaces that hold both clarity and dissolution. The frame, in her work, functions less as boundary and more as a porous edge—holding space for what slips between seen and felt.
Johnson holds an MFA from the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in Switzerland, the U.S.A., and China, and she was awarded first place in the ICFM Photography Prize as a representative of the ZHdK MFA program.
