Taura Horn is a multidisciplinary artist using photography, video, and textiles to explore the passage of time and our relationship with the natural world, our history, and ourselves. Her diverse bodies of work are connected by a deep respect for people and the environment. She archives nonlinguistic stories through portraits, documentation of the rural Midwest, and her improvisational quilting. She received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, attending with a Presidential Merit Scholarship all four years. Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries including the Diego Rivera Gallery, the International Quilt Museum, Darger HQ, Hot Shops Art Center, the Parrish Project and QuiltCon. Her punk and feminist zines, No Doi and 6 Volt, from 1992-2001, were selected to be archived in the University of Nebraska Lincoln’s Archives/Special Collections in 2021. Taura currently lives in Fort Pierce, Florida on a small sailboat which she and her partner are refitting to be a self-sufficient vessel for their family.
