I wasn't supposed to end up as an artist.

Originally born in Scotland but made to wander continents, I've spent much of my life chasing horizons rather than follow the straight line.

Before dedicating myself to painting, I worked in a role where observation, adaptability, and trust in your instincts could make all the difference., and those experiences shaped how I see the world and continue to influence every brushstroke today.

After a lifetime of travelling widely, seeking out remote landscapes and untamed places, creating traditional Japanese sumi ink paintings that are intrinsically linked to the environments they depict, I still use locally sourced natural components gathered during my journeys, each piece carries a physical connection to the place that inspired it to create my work.
It's a practice rooted in both exploration and tradition, refined through years of study under various Japanese masters and tutors.

For me, art isn't separate from adventure. It's another way of navigating the world, of paying attention, committing to canvas and preserving fleeting moments that might otherwise be lost.
