Jonathan Benitez

Jonathan Benitez is from the Philippines, his art is about portraits of people and figures of entities-from the ordinary to supernatural beings juxtaposed on fragments of collage surfaces. His aim is to connect the relative essence of all beings and their relationship, their common traits, fragility and impermanence. He explores the narrative impact that the human images suggest, its role in invoking a presence and memories, personal histories and inspirations stemming from the artist’s cross –cultural ties to Palawan where he was raise and works and Mindanao where he was born.
He paints from photos, from memory or as a result of manipulations via collage.
