Travis Medford

I am a mixed media artist working in the mediums of collage, drawing, and sculpture. I work with discarded books, manuals, found paper, magazines, typography, graphite, wood, adhesive, ink, and acrylic paint. At the heart of my practice lies the poetic potential found in these materials and the reframing of their utility. My process concerns the balance between intuition and cognition. By making intuitive choices, I provide a conduit for the subconscious while maintaining a discerning eye for design. The catalyst of my practice is the compulsion for visual arrangement and order. Composition of shape, color, and image is how I instinctively engage with my entropic environment.
