Zofia Krakowiak

Ceramics is an ancient craft that is being so widely rediscovered now and for me, finding a connection between ancestral techniques, contemporary design and simplicity is an amazing way of expressing myself.

I was trained as an architect and started doing ceramics as a hobby at first. Finally, I quit my profession and decided to become a full-time ceramicist. My everyday work is mostly concentrated on utilitarian pieces, such as tableware and functional wares made on pottery wheel, forms are always simple and minimalistic, but I am very focused on every detail following my architect's rule of "less is more".

I have made a couple of sculptural artistic projects, collaborations and residencies. My inspiration often comes from simple observation of current circumstances and I am very interested in working on site specific projects and I am fascinated by primitive and alternative firings.
