Urszula Burakowska

I am a Polish painter inspired by landscapes, journeys and the fleeting impressions that certain places leave behind.

I paint forests, coastlines, paths and open spaces — not as literal records of places, but as memories of being there. A particular light, the colours of a landscape, a sense of distance or the quietness of a moment can stay with me long after the journey has ended. These impressions become the starting point for my paintings.

My work sits somewhere between observation and imagination. I simplify and transform the landscape, looking for the atmosphere beneath what is visible — the feeling of a place rather than its exact image.

I hold an M.A. in Cultural Studies, specialising in Art Criticism and Animation of Art. I live and work in Poland.
