Valeska Vera

Valeska Vera is a Venezuelan textile artist based in Barcelona. Her relationship with textiles began at a young age and deepened in 2016 at the Loop of the Loom studio in New York, where the loom became her most personal tool for expression. Since then, she has approached weaving as both a material practice and a personal language.

Trained in Applied Textile Arts at Escola Massana, she continues to develop her work at Escola Tèxtil Teranyina in Barcelona. In 2025, she completed an artist residency at Texere in Oaxaca, Mexico, fulfilling a long-held goal to connect with traditional textile communities. This experience expanded her vision beyond technique, shaping her understanding of the dialogue between craft, place, and identity.

Her work is currently gaining international recognition, with her most recent selection for the Handwerk & Design TALENTE in Munich (2026) and the Biennale de Champigny-sur-Marne in France (2026). Previously, her Jardín series was exhibited at Castell de Cornellà (Barcelona, 2025), and her work was selected for the Biennale d’Art Contemporain de Cachan (France, 2025). Other pieces have been featured in group exhibitions in Antwerp and Mykonos (2024).
