I’m mostly inspired by people, their lives, things they do, their personalities and all those little things that make everybody different, that makes people stand out. There’s an uniqueness that everyone possesses, that is what I seek in people I meet, people that walk by me on the streets, people I observe while sitting on my favourite bench in the park near my house. There’s a story behind one’s presence, and that’s the story that I’m telling with my paintings. It’s there, written in their faces, in the way they are, in the look in their eyes, the way they hold their body.

Our imagination gives personalities to objects as well, and I find that to be fascinating and inspiring. Seldom is an object just and object, we give it a secret life, a uniqueness. And often that uniqueness is visible just to us, as other people see a whole different story in the same object. So, an object can hold many different personalities, be unique in many different ways. In my work, I try to give those objects a unique voice, a distinct personality that will be recognisable to everyone, and yet, I try to leave a lot to the imagination of the observer, just to give those objects that special uniqueness that only one person can recognize.
