Veka Koestinger

My name is Veka Koestinger. I was born in Oaxaca (Mexico). I lived in Spain and I now live in France. I am 25 years old.
I have always been attracted to art.
I started by being part of the high school film club. Then, I did a year of art prep. This allowed me to enroll in the bachelor’s program in photography/video at the Gobelins Image School, where I was able to study thanks to a scholarship from Universal Music France. Then, a year after my graduation, I entered an equivalency in my third year at the Beaux Arts of Nice, the Villa Arson.
I am mainly interested in photography and imagery. Because I find a comforting freedom within which I allow myself to join different practices.
(Photography also allows me to create new worlds.)
I am mainly inspired by my twin sister, the human, the cinematography, the light, the absurd, certain places and what’s in my head.
The artists who are for me an inspiration are Gregory Crewdson (photographer), Tim Walker (photographer), Szilveszter Makó (photographer), Leonora Carrington (painter), Yorgos Lanthimos (director).
