Vera Costa

Vera Costa's artwork is about memory and gender. She collects doilies and other hand made domestic crafts created by her family's women. The thread/line that connects events in time and space, always represented as tangled/laced forms, has a central role in her work.
She tears, rips, cuts, unravels, glues, and/or sews layers of canvas to create her work.
She was Born in Brazil where she started her artistic career in the 90s. She lives and works in San Francisco, CA.
