Vernon Fourie

I am an Artist, Illustrator, Cartoonist, and Educator based in Cape Town, South Africa, working across a range of Mediums and Creative Disciplines.

My work is inspired by a lifelong love of Pop Art, Art Nouveau, and Popular Culture — from Comic Books and Superheroes to Fantasy, Cinema, and the Spirit of Adventure and Wonder.

I favour Pen and Ink when working on Paper, while exploring a Mixed-media approach when working on Canvas - combining Oil, Acrylic, Ink, and Encaustic.

At the Heart of my Work is a simple idea: the ability to Imagine and Believe, and to draw Strength from that Belief. It is about becoming something greater by Believing in something greater.

Through The CrissCross Studio and ToonSchool, I share these ideas through Art, illustration, and Creative Teaching — inviting others to explore their own Creativity and sense of Wonder.
