Viktorija Bulava, a European-educated MFA and former gallery owner, creates refined, museum-quality works that merge classical academic mastery with bold contemporary vision. Recognized early for exceptional draftsmanship and anatomical precision, her paintings are anchored in a powerful drawing foundation.

Rooted in Eastern European academic tradition and influenced by Riga — the “Little Paris” of the 1930s” — her work reflects the elegance of Art Nouveau and the structural strength of post–World War II Soviet realism. Luminous palettes, selective metal leaf, and carefully executed surfaces create depth, movement, and sensuality.

While grounded in tradition, her paintings carry a distinct visual language that makes them immediately identifiable — balancing discipline with expressive vitality. Her work is held in private and public collections worldwide.
