Vio Valova

I am a contemporary surrealist artist working across painting and works on paper. My practice combines compositional surrealism with intuitive, color‑driven processes in which characters and narratives emerge directly from the surface. I work with both dense, multi‑layered scenes and minimal linear structures, always within the same surrealistic language.
Born in Ukraine, now based in the Netherlands, I have been drawing and painting since childhood and have developed my practice through formal training, independent study, and years of continuous studio work. My works are held in private collections in Europe, the UK, and the US.

Eight years of formal art training at the Children’s Art School in Kherson. Additional studies in design, computer graphics, and photography (2005–2006).
From 2016 to 2020 studied painting at the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts (Uzhhorod), including private lessons with academy instructors. Continuous independent practice in painting and drawing since childhood.
