Wendy Bird

I paint in oils and watercolours. I also use drawing as a means of expression and make original intaglio prints. My main sources of inspiration are nature and fantastic/folkloric themes. I live in beautiful NorthWales where I am inspired by the trees, plants, rivers, ponds, insects, birds and animals.

Nature sculpts the world through movement. Trees grow slowly, water runs fast. Each leaf; cloud; dragonfly wing; bird's feather is unique. Light permeates the invisible air and mind dissolves into the object, there is no separation.

1980s: I studied Fine Art (Painting and Printmaking) at Amersham College of Art, England with Sir Romeo di Girolamo RA and Henry Trivick RA.

I studied History of Art and Design in the Modern Period at Leicester Polytechnic.

I trained as a ceramics teacher at Reading University.

I founder member of the Equinox Theatre Company in Newbury making puppets, masks and taking part.

I went to live in Barcelona where I studied etching and engraving in Marta Montcada's studio.

I studied ceramic glazing techniques in the municipal art school.

I moved to the Pyrenees in 1995 and completed a PhD on the work of Goya in 1999. I lived between England and Spain for thirty years.

I trained as a Yoga teacher in Croatia and India (Himalayas)

I have exhibited widely since 1976 and my work appears in collections all over the world.
