My earthy colors come from Ozark pigments. I'm collaborating with Nature out here in rural NW Arkansas (USA).
Making paint starts with foraging rocks, bones, soot, and red clay. Processing involves crushing, washing, and drying the pigment before mulling with oils or watercolor media.
I call my business and the 160 acres of wilderness we inhabit 'Wild Ozark'.
Wild Ozark: Where Madison Woods paints with Ozark pigments … and talks to rocks, creeks, and trees.
No formal art education, but plenty of trial and error and research.
