William Houdashell

Singular events and emotions are the inspiration for many of my paintings. I believe that color more than anything will provoke a response to a painting. If I can achieve an emotional charge between the viewer and my work, then I have reached my goal.

Not everyone will say that they appreciate or understand abstract art. I say, don't stare at a work of art and try and force yourself to see what you think should be there. Look at what you see and accept it. That is is your totally unique experience with any work of art.

The works of great artists such as Gerhard Richter, Joan Mitchell, Barnett Newman, Ad Reinhardt, Albert Oehlen, Christian Hetzel and many others feed my love of art and drive me to continue expanding my style.

I do not have a formal education in art. I am self taught and continually learning and experimenting.
