Yang Jianbo (杨剑波) is a Chinese painter working in oil and pencil, born in 1972 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. He is Professor and Department Chair at the School of Art and Design, Yunnan University, where he also supervises graduate students in oil painting. He has been painting since his university years, and over decades his work has developed a distinct visual language rooted in the highlands of Yunnan and Tibet — where vast plateaus, migrating birds, and nomadic figures inhabit a world of compressed light and silence.
