Take Heed of My Eyes
What would we come across to, if we could see our souls underneath all those suppressed emotions?
The muse of my works that take this question as its basis is inner motion. The suppressed emotions that we don’t or even cannot express, destroy us from within. But at the same time, they make us what we are... I convey all these emotional constituents in my works.
Life wasn’t easy for women where I was born and raised, it would even be appropriate to say it was hard. The hardworking, laborious women were wearing out their souls while wearing out their bodies. Though their mouths are sealed shut, their sadness can be read from their eyes. That’s why I paint women whose mouths are closed, those who speak through their eyes. It is the eyes that reflect our souls, the mouth speaks but it might not be all sincere. As those are the emotions stuck between two lips, they can be manipulated... Which is why my works can create that communication with the audience, convey those feelings through their eyes. You take heed of my eyes...
