Yisa Akinbolaji has developed his own technique in art and, therefore, his own visual language: “Though I’m a painter, I do not just paint; I create with paint. Yisa who has an MFA from the University of North Dakota is a Canadian multimedia full-time artist and educator. He has conducted workshops in his technique for various professional levels. Yisa's innovative painting technique has recently inspired "Remoglue", a new water-based medium for acrylic or oil painting. Once I start creating, one element of my composition leads to another.” Like the great art masters such as Pablo Picasso, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock or Vincent Van Gogh, Yisa's creation can be identified by his periods and series. Yisa immigrated to Winnipeg in 1997 becoming a Canadian citizen in 2001. Before immigrating to Canada, he was recognized with inclusion in Nigerian Artists: A Who's Who and Bibliography (1993), a publication of the Smithsonian Institution Libraries, Washington D.C. He was featured on the cover of Art Business News, New York, in November 2011 for his innovative painting technique.
