Yulia Robinson

I’m a practising artist based in London. I studied Printmaking at Kingston College of Art and Design and later completed Mixed Media Fine Art at the University of Westminster. My early practice centred on large-scale, hand-made mixed-material and textile sculpture and installation.

Today I work primarily on large canvases, creating semi-abstract expressionist paintings shaped by gesture, texture, and colour. The work explores presence—how a painting can take up space, hold attention, and be experienced physically. Layered surfaces combine abstract forms with occasional figurative hints, inviting introspection and emotional response. I’m interested in sensation first: paintings that are felt before they are understood, revealed through shifting pigment, touch, and surface depth.

My practice continues to evolve through experimentation with materials, using texture and colour to explore intimacy, human relationships, and the ways we connect and perceive ourselves and the world.
