Roberto Zamora was born in 1946 and raised in various countries in Western Europe until his family moved to California in 1963. He began drawing and watercolor painting when he was 6 and received private instruction in Germany.
In California he went on to receive a B of A degree in Architecture with a minor in Art. He won 1st prize for a statewide High School design competition and worked in architecture offices while still in High School and continued a few years after graduating.
At 27 years old he became more interested in the Arts and followed his muse to Spain where he became passionately involved in both both Flamenco and painting.
His Flamenco series represents his 40+ year involvement as a professional Flamenco singer/dancer and his attempt to infuse his painting with the true essence of gypsy flamenco which was and is one of his passions. He attempts to fuse his favorite styles of art with his flamenco passion and make a personal statement which is relevant in the 21st century.
In his Still Life paintings he attempts to create peaceful, meditative and simple compositions in order to create in the viewer a sense of restfulness and balance in an increasingly chaotic world.
