Zurab Sharvadze

Hello! Thank you for looking at my art and reading about me! My name is Zurab Sharvadze. I was born (in 1959) and raised in Tbilisi, Georgia and since my early childhood, I have always had a passion for art. My stepmother was the first one to notice it and gave me an easel and a set of oil paints when I was 14. Since then, my easel and I became inseparable. Following my father’s steps, I got my BS, MS and PhD in Nuclear Physics and worked at the Physics Research Institute until the collapse of the Soviet Union. Since the beginning of the 90s, I became the full-time artist. It was also the time of apprenticeship with some famous Georgian Artists like Temo Machavariani. The beautiful landscapes of my country Georgia are the constant source of my inspiration: Caucasus mountains, valleys with vineyards, meadows full of alpine flowers, pine forests, clear lakes and springs, the Black Sea. I also always take my portable easel and set of oil paints, when I travel abroad. From early spring through late autumn, you can often find me painting outside in the plein air in the mountains or the windy narrow streets of old Tbilisi.
