Original 3D map dot wall art. This piece is made from carefully collected and arranged pieces of vintage maps, charts and atlas. Hand bonded onto wood then laser cut into 100's of dots. I spend time sorting and arranging according to colour, texture and composition of the elements of the vintage maps. The dots are then assembled by colour and fixed in this composition combined with gold leaf dots. Comprising of 100 map dots. Abstract artist, Amelia Coward is renowned for her explorations into mixing, blending and grading colours, with a growing international profile. Born in 1975, she holds a 1st class Honours from Central St Martins and MA from the Royal College of Art. Her artworks can be found in both private and corporate collections worldwide. Amelia creates artworks that focus on the interaction of colours combined with the carefully composed spacial balance between geometric elements such as circles and stripes. Influenced by her woven textile training she uses laser cutters much the same way as she was trained to use a loom, cutting geometric shapes then reassembling them in patchwork compositions. Located in a traditional Oast Barn in the Kent countryside, Amelia combines her prolific making of new pieces with her commercial giftware business, Bombus. Each influences the other. Amelia has a team of creative makers in her studio to help to assemble, photograph, frame and pack all the works.
